THE INITIATIVE

Worldmaking Beyond SOAS

Worldmaking Beyond SOAS is a flagship initiative that builds a body of collaborative work to catalyse community, and imagination around racially just futures beyond SOAS.

Conceptualised by Dr Awino Okech at SOAS University of London, this initiative is premised on the fact that Black, Indigenous, racial, feminist, labour and other radical movements have been critical to working towards new visions of racially just worlds.

In bringing together academics, students and social justice movements, we acknowledge that we all respond to the same infrastructures of exclusion such as peak marketisation, heightened state surveillance and accompanying threats to academic freedom and shrinking civic space.

Consequently, the generation of knowledge and strategies for change beyond and across the borders of universities and social movements is critical now more than ever.
